The dilemma of contemporary practice is compounded by the direct marketing of the techniques, lack of formal education and the fundamental learning curve the “Invisible or the Inconspicuous” appliance techniques pose. These psychological barriers magnify and fortify the mental demons about their efficacy and role in our practices. This presentation will discuss the rationale, relevance and role of inconspicuous plastic aligner therapy in expanding the envelope of our craft. Specific biomechanical, laboratory and patient management considerations will be deliberated upon with clinical case reports of patients using different aligner systems. A comparitive analysis of different systems and clinical innovations with each will be described.
The “Invisible appliance terrain” definitely draws inspiration from Hans Christian Andersen’s legendary fable where an Emperor, with a fetish for haute couture’ spends a fortune on nothingness and a truly invisible attire to flaunt.
