Changes in the Intercanine Width from Mixed to Permanent Dentition
Objective: The current study investigated patients treated orthodontically from mixed to permanent dentition. The objective of the study was to analyze the transverse dimension increment of the dental arch by orthodontic treatment.
Methods: Authors suggest an original method. The changes in the intercanine width during orthodontic treatment with removable appliances were followed from early mixed dentition till after the eruption of the permanent canines.
Results: Results were statistically analyzed and demonstrated average standard increase in the intercanine width.
Conclusions: The average transversal increment in the arch width facilitates the early prediction of what intercanine width changes the orthodontist can expect by early orthodontic treatment.
