Bilaterally Impacted Maxillary Canines and Mandibular Left Second Premolar: A Case Report

Aim: To describe and ilustrate the orthodontic-surgical therapy of one patient with bilaterally impacted maxillary canines and mandibular left second premolar.
Subject and Method: A 17-years-old girl with persisting deciduous canines in the upper arch, persisting deciduous left second molar in the lower arch and bilaterally impacted maxillary canines and mandibular left second premolar that were identified throught data including clinical examination and panoramic raiographs ( Figs 1,2). The orthodontic therapy with fixed appliance was used for the initial leveling and alignment of the teeth. Then followed surgical intervention- the crowns of the impacted canines and premolar were exposed, bonded buttons was applied to each on and with ligature wire fixed on the orthodontic wire (Figs 3,4 ).After traction of the impacted tooth, the fixed appliance was replaced with retainer ( Figs 5,6).
Result and Conclusion: The impacted teeth were properly aligned with the aid of orthodontic traction and surgical assistance, and now the patient possesses confidence to smile and has enhanced self-esteem.
