Quantitative analysis of Ca content for density measurement in living bone gave valuable information for Orthodontics such as value of anchorage, growing site and suitable position of implant. Conventional X-ray CT technology has well known capability with calibration phantom, and it has been applied as reliable diagnostic method for Osteoporosis, against the cone beam CT. In cone beam CT, scattered X-ray affected the linearity of X-ray attenuation coefficient and disturbed quantitative measurement. In this study, we developed new image processing method on row data set derived from cone beam X-ray scanning, which improved the accuracy of CT value.
With lower dose radiation, with higher volumetric resolution and precise measurement, coming of new era of cone beam X-ray CT as an application for Orthodontic diagnostic tool will be introduced.
