Interdisciplinary Treatment of Severe Skeletal Class III Deformity and Anterior Openbite: A Case Report
Aim: The aim of this case report is to investigate the results of an interdisciplinary treatment in an adult male who presented anterior overbite and severe skeletal Class III deformity.
Subject and Method: An 18-year-4 months old male patient who presented anterior openbite and severe Class III deformity was treated with and interdisciplinary (orthodontics and orthognathic surgery) treatment approach. A 3 mm anterior and posterior impaction, 5 mm maxillary advancement and 5 mm mandibular setback were performed. No additional surgery was planned for the chin.
Results: After the bimaxillary surgery, the soft tissue profile, vertical and sagittal relationships were improved, the anterior openbite was corrected and Class I relationship was achieved.
Conclusions: The results of this case report showed that the function and esthetics were achieved successfully with interdisciplinary collaboration in anterior openbite and severe skeletal Class III deformity.
