Correcting Pseudo Class III Malocclusion with Two Phase Treatment
A developing Class III malocclusion in growing patient is one of challenging problems confronting an Orthodontic clinician. The treatment should be carried out as early as possible with the aim of permitting normal dentoalveolar and skeletal growth. The importance of differentiating between true Class III and pseudo Class III is emphasized. Pseudo Class III malocclusion has been characterised by an anterior crossbite in a presence of forward mandibular displacement and skeletal relationship is usually Class I or midly Calss III. In this case report, a-9 year old boy with severe upper arch crowding, anterior crossbite, an appearance of maxillary growth deficiency and concave profile was noticed. The aim of this article is to illustrate the effective of two phase treatment in pseudo Class III malocclusion. Spesific emphasis was given in treatment planning to ensure maximum benefits. Lateral Cephalograms of pre and post treatment showed dentoalveolar changes and skeletal adaptation as main response to treatment.
