A 20-Year Clinical Report of Orthosurgical Patients Treatment (Two Hundred Cases)

Objective: The role of experience in any field is no less than academic training and fortifying theoretical foundation. Treatment of each patient has its own problems, challenges and uniqueness. The complexity of treatment and its related issues could increase with the severity of discrepancy. Therefore it would not sound so strange if one considered that there are much more problems in treatment of severe skeletal problems requiring orthognathic surgery. Over twenty years of academic and clinical experience the author has treated more than 2500 patients where the orthognathic cases comprise approximately two hundred of them. The aim of this presentation is to clarify special problems and complication of orthognathic patients based on author's experiences that could lead to success or failure. The presentation primarily focuses on:
-Importance of treatment
-Presurgical complication such as: soft tissue problems, severe crowding cases, and treatment planning
-Teamwork cooperation between orthodontist and surgeon
-Surgical problems and complication
-Post surgical problems, long term follow up and relapse
