Objective: To develop a novel impacted molar uprighting appliance which could directly act on the impacted molar and avoiding the side effect-adverse tooth mobility.
Methods: The novel appliance was designed by the author of this thesis who got hold of elicitation from the application of oral implant anchorage. According to the human mandible and impacted molar features, we designed a novel impacted molar uprighting appliance.
Results: The implanted impacted molar uprighting appliance composed with a miniscrews, a flexible compression connector and a splicing attachment. The connector connects the miniscrews and the attachment with two bars, and produces the force to upright the impacted molar.
Conclusions: The mechanism of implanted impacted molar uprighting appliance was distinct from other treatment methods. Its main feature was produced the force by the miniscrews, avoiding the side effect-adverse tooth mobility. The more directly of the mode of action, the more perfect of the effect. Still, further studies are needed to better establish and elucidate these hypotheses.
