New Minor Tooth Movement Lingual Brackets
Objective: To present and compare the design of two new lingual brackets created for minor tooth movements i.e. GAC InOvation L MTM and Ormco STb Social 6. They are also compared with the standard GAC In Ovation L and Ormco STb brackets.
Methods: The two brackets, were photographed, measured and analyzed. They are compared between them, as well as, with the standard GAC In Ovation L and Ormco STb bracket from a design and biomechanical point of view. All aspects of the designs are presented and discussed.
Results: Even though the basic lingual biomechanical concepts apply to all brackets, certain characteristics play a significant role in torque, inclination, rotation, levelling and alignment of the teeth. Also, accessibility, ease of use and patient comfort are very critical issues for the outcome of the orthodontic treatment.
Conclusion: New brackets focusing in minor tooth movement came in the market lately. The choice for the orthodontists should be based on their characteristics so the best results can be achieved.
