The Lingualjet Appliance : An Authentic Straight-wire Technique for Lingual Orthodontics
All the theoretical advantages of a straight-wire technique are well known by orthodontists but are not easily obtainable when using the conventional lingual braces. The Lingualjet Appliance combines a custom made bracket perfectly adapted to the lingual surface of the crown and an accurate connection to a flat archwire which has a standard shape. This linkage is implemented by a making process coming from advanced technique of imaging and CAD/CFAD methods.
The ability to use any cross-section size as well as the choice of the material is kept to the practitioner at any moment. Clinical outcomes are similar with those expected.
Mini-screws and other accessories can take advantage of the low friction properties given by a straight wire appliance and sliding mechanics can be widely used during all phases of treatment.
Moreover, in some special clinical situations, or complicated cases, for greater efficiency the practitioner can order a radiographic CT scan or a volumetric acquisition (Cone Beam technology). Then after a 3D imaging treatment of the original scan data, more individualized parameters can be computerized for the highest level of individualization. So specific 3D tools are available for a top of range personification of the treatment.
